Why Apex Exists

Three Decisions. One Standard.

Apex didn't grow from a courier expanding into medical. It was designed from day one to do three specific things, in one specific region, at one specific operational grade.

Decision 01

Why Active Cold-Chain

Passive cooling gives no warning as it warms. Gel packs lose their charge, foam insulation loses performance, and without a logger there is no trace of what the specimen experienced. If a lab rejects a specimen for thermal integrity, there is no record to review.

Apex is built around active refrigeration and a temperature data logger on every run, with tamper-evident digital audit logs rolling out with the Apex platform. If we transport it, we record the temperature.

Why Medical-Only

Clinical specimens and workplace testing collections each carry their own handling, documentation and chain-of-custody requirements. Holding those requirements consistently is easier when they are the whole job, not one task among many.

Apex focuses on clinical specimens and workplace testing collections. Collections follow 49 CFR Part 40 procedures, and handling procedures are built for clinical specimens from the start.

Why South OC

South Orange County is a dense pocket of GCs, occupational health clinics, reference labs and corporate HQs, all needing the same compliance backbone, close to where the work happens.

One direct line to the founder.

Chris Isner is the founder, principal and direct line for Apex Medical OC. Not a switchboard, not an account executive. When a hospital procurement officer needs a BAA signed, a lab director needs a STAT specimen moved or a TPA needs program support, the call goes to the founder's line.

Chris brings 15+ years of operations leadership, plus current construction project controls work. He is a Part 40 qualified collector and performs Apex collections himself. Project controls run on the same disciplines clinical logistics demands: schedule integrity, written notices to proceed and audit-defensible documentation on every dispatch. The vocabulary is different. The rigor is the same.

Every operational standard at Apex, from the temperature data logger on every run to the sealed digital custody records rolling out with the Apex platform, is designed to pass the test Chris would give any vendor.

Every dispatch is planned around the specified temperature, the specified time and the specified chain of custody, with procedures designed to keep specimens in range. Integrity is not optional.

Active refrigeration. A temperature data logger on every run. Battery backup power for the cooler.

Audit-Defensible

If a lab questions a delivery, the chain-of-custody record shows what happened. Every dispatch is documented on chain-of-custody forms today, with SHA-256 sealed digital records rolling out with the Apex platform.
